On my watch time goes in a circle

Each second forming a sector of the one with

Infinitely many sides, where sixty seconds squared equals

Nothing very important.

In my music time goes in a one-two-three-four

Counting beats like horse hooves

In the time it takes for a dotted quarter to

Rest.

At the beach time goes two ways

In or out, in the time it takes for a crab

to scuttle past, leaving footprints which fill outside in

with sand, the waves turn from in to out.

Eating apples, time goes one way

The stem pointing the direction like a finger

Turning a red fleshy circle like time

Into something thrown away.
